How seriously should we take it? I mean, it's pretty darn harsh rating your friends like that. Do people seriously rate the people in their life like that?

I dont think people understand why others get upset.
when i told a close friend of mine it bothered me that i wasnt on there. the first thing he told me was "its just myspace" no, its not just myspace. its the thought behind it. i think its a pretty big deal because its like.. "umm aren't we best friends?"
its not wanting attention,
some people just want to know that that person likes them.
its natural to think something like that.
to me it only matters that if people are best friends,
brother/sister, boyfriend/girlfriend.
but the rating thing, like putting them in order, yeah thats dumb.
better to hide your friends list if you dont want to hear anything from anyone.

Sadly people do take the myspace top friends list seriously. The key is to understand why people take it seriously...usually it is because they are seeking attention for themselves or to value themselves more than they actually do.

Yes ppl do. If someone is on my top friends list then its no big deal. Im not rating them as far as who is more important.

i've noticed alot of people take it rather seriously. they are losers. i mean don't get me wrong i have a top friends list but it's more so for people i'm close to. the people who have it right are the people who just put like bands or comedian or authors in top spots. it's good publicity for the bands %26amp; whatnot plus no1 ever gets mad @ you for rearranging your top friends.
some people just take **** too far thou. like it's some sort of status thing. gets a little nuts. i advise steering clear of people like that.

My cousin made me mad by leaving comments on my page about a girl I knew from school who is kinda mentally retarded. She wanted me to put her in the top so I did!but my cousin is also in my top. But when people say I want to be b4 this or that person i say "no you better be lucky you are on the top"...

i take it semi-serious. it kinda lets everybody know how important your friends are numericaly. i mean i don't really have a list of 10-40 friends in my mind but it helps when i'm pissed off at somebody to kick em down a notch
